You want to build your dream home. We love making dreams come to life!

You might already have a good idea of the style of the home and features you want. We start by asking a series of questions that helps us zero-in on the style of home you desire along with your specific needs, wants, desires and tastes. As a starting point, we have many existing plans and can access thousands of additional plans through partner web sites. Or, we can design your unique dream home from the ground up. Other times clients bring us plans they already like or own.

In our first meeting we discuss setting a preliminary budget. A preliminary budget serves to keep the project on track as we design your home. We pride ourselves on building homes on budget and have a strong track record of doing so. In fact, building green does not mean busting the budget. Amaris has perfected the process of building affordably priced green homes.

Bottom line: a green home is a much higher quality home. It far exceeds state building codes and will out perform the competition for years to come.

Define Green

Before we get too far into the “green” building process, I would like get us on the same “green” page so to speak. The word “green” needs some definition because it is really misunderstood. There really isn’t a building product on the planet that is 100% green. For example, a lot of people are excited about bamboo floors because of its ability to grow fast and replenish itself. However, shipping bamboo across the planet uses a lot of energy for shipping. It may use chemicals (VOC’s - volatile organic compounds— more on that later) that are toxic too. Some bamboo has a tendency to buckle and needs to be glued to the sub-floor too. The point is, every product has “green” attributes but none are 100% “green.” The same is true of a “green” home or remodeling project.

Green Building 101

Many people think building green is for "tree huggers." A desire to build “green” can stem from simply wanting to save energy and lower energy costs. Houses don't need to look any different and most look identical to any house you may desire to build. Over the next several months, I will explain the process of building green from the ground up.
